CLEANING THE PROPELLER |
Percy Sweetnam has undertaken the job of cleaning and preparing the propeller for when it will be mounted atop the memorial. These photos were taken by Dufi Kock around June 19, 2009. |
Percy set up shop under a cover behind his house where he could work in the shade. I also see he set up a light so he can work at night and a couple of chairs, probably for the "helpers" which come to watch him work. |
In this photograph you can see the true rich bronze color of the propeller beginning to show. |
Yet another view of the propeller, not that the blade to the right is bent on the end. This probably is a result of the ship hitting the bottom when she sank. |
Yet another view. |
With all this work being done and the project progressing as well as it is, why don't you that are reading this lend a hand and send a check. Your donation is needed and will be used for a very good cause and although this is a very large project if everyone lends a hand it will get done. Check the PROPELLER DIRECTORY to see where to send you check. Thanks. |
