This website is devoted to the Lago Colony and the memories of the families raised there. Whether you had family or friends who lived at Lago or are just interested in Aruba history, we think you'll enjoy a glimpse into life and the special memories of those that lived there.

Dan Jensen 1938-2014

This website was created in December 22, 2004 by my father, Dan Jensen, to record the Lago Colony history for posterity. Keeping the website going was a priority for him. With his passing on October 29, 2014, and his long standing wishes, I am going to attempt to fill his shoes, I will maintain and update the Lago Colony website as the new Webmaster. Altough I never lived in Aruba, I did grown up with all the stories and have meet a number of my fathers Lagoite freinds.

If you have family history that we can add to the website, please send it in for review. We are especially interested in family histories and photos taken in the Colony. All information and questions and can be sent to webmaster@lago-colony.com.

The Lago Colony web site is intended to show what was at one time a viable community, located on the east end of the island of Aruba and supported by the largest oil refinery in the world. Most of Lago Colony is gone, a few of the houses remain, they have been turned over to the Aruba Government and some have been sold to individuals. The refinery is operational, but it is not nearly as large as it once was. Having grown up in Lago Colony I can tell you it was a wonderful place to spend one's childhood. I hope you enjoy your visit to Lago Colony and the old Lago Refinery.
