In September of 2003 I went to a Lago High School reunion in San Antonio and there I met Mary B. (Spitzer) (BeBe) Henderson who was also a widow. See: (BUNGALOW 1511) Mary B. and I began to correspond by email and in 2003, I spent Thanksgiving with my daughter and her family in Fort Worth, Texas. The week before Thanksgiving Day and the week after, I was in Austin, Texas with Mary B. It was during this time that we decided to get married. Because I was still working, Mary B. came to Savannah, Georgia for Christmas and on January 2, 2003 we were marred in South Carolina. I retired from my job as Zoning Administrator for Chatham County in February, 2004 and we sold my house in Savannah and I moved to Austin, Texas. |

My father retired in 1957 and he and my Mother moved to St. Croix, U.S.V.I.. |
I attended the University of Florida and majored in Building Construction. |
My first job out of school was in Orlando, Florida. I worked for Paul Smith Construction Co. was the Job Engineer on the Delaney Street Baptist Church Educational Building. When that job was finished I was the Job Engineer on the First Federal Savings and Loan parking garage downtown and then the seven story First Federal Savings and Loan office building. While on this job one of our sub-contractors was Burnup & Sims and when I told the foreman I was from St. Croix he told me they were doing work down there. I said I would like to get a job in St. Croix and the next day I got a call offering me a job as a superintendent in St. Croix. I gave Paul Smith two weeks notice and Lee and I moved to St. Croix. After two years in St. Croix Burnup & Sims moved me to Barbados where I managed a ready-mix concrete plant. Three years in Barbados and then back to St. Croix as the Manager of the Burnup & Sims in St. Croix. |
When Burnup & Sims left St. Croix I stayed and opened a hardware store, The Tool Box. We also purchased a travel agency and my wife ran the agency. |
When the children were of middle school age we decided to move to the States and settled in Georgia. I purchased a "farm" and raised baby caves for two years, it took me that long to realize I could not make money raising calves. |
I went to work for County Government and became a Building Inspector which then brought me into Zoning. When I retired I was the Zoning Administrator for Chatham County, Georgia in Savannah. |
