My parents arrived with my sister Kay and me in January,1933. We stayed in one of the small bungalows for a few weeks and then we moved into #77, just above the tennis courts. I think the Mingus family were in #78.  I remember Sonny and Teet because my sister played over at their house.  The Cambell family lived in #75.  I remember playing with Carl and Gene( I hope I have the names right).  I remember the big Christmas parties at the Smith house (Casa Grande) with second story bed rooms and the landscaped garden inside the concrete wall.  I think the Mingus girls will remember Jimmy Sullivan( I think) who lived near us and always seemed to have a skinned nose from falling.

I think this web site is great. Thanks for creating it.  I about the site from Carol (Leavitt) Johnson who was her father Dick Leavitt and family were in the Lago Colony in the late fifties and early 60s.  Dick lives in the same continuing care facility where I live in Connecticut.

I saw a question on who designed the bungalows. I don't know who designed them but the contractor building them in 1934 was Charley Ross who had a construction shed with power saws, planners and drills where the lumber, brought down by the tankers, was pre-cut and shaped before they were carried to the house site and built on the oil pots. Charley also loved to sail his Snipe sailboat.  He used to let me help clean the bottom before he was in a race.
